Job Responsibilities:

  1. Support the business development team by providing technical support and clarifying specifications during the project RFQ phase to ensure alignment with customer/stakeholder expectations.
  2. Manage requests for quotations (RFQs), gather essential information, develop initial concepts, and research components, devices, and associated costs to estimate project pricing.
  3. Develop product requirements by interpreting customer/stakeholder needs and translating them into design specifications, assessing feasibility and delivering technical expertise.
  4. Conduct feasibility studies (DFx) to verify capability and functionality or to assess existing technologies.
  5. Design, develop, debug, modify, and test mechanical-based design solutions using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies.
  6. Make sound design recommendations by utilizing product design analysis tools such as DFMEA, simulation, DOE, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  7. Conduct concept design reviews and detailed design reviews, ensuring all deliverables meet the required standards.
  8. Work as a hands-on Engineer in performing troubleshooting on new products/process problems related to design, material, or process.
  9. Lead and perform root cause analysis on issues identified during development and sustaining phases.
  10. Produce detailed technical drawings adhering to design specifications and industry standards (GD&T). Generate comprehensive drawings reflecting the actual construction or assembly of the product.
  11. Support mechanical engineering tests, characterizations, cyclic tests, and reliability tests according to product requirements.
  12. Communicate and collaborate with internal teams (Project Management (PM), Marketing/internal customers, Test Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Firmware Engineers, Software Engineers, Production Engineers, etc.) and external teams (suppliers, design partners, contract manufacturers, etc.).
  13. Collaborate closely with manufacturing staff to communicate project requirements and specifications (DFM). Provide technical support and guidance to ensure efficient fabrication of products.
  14. Comply with documentation requirements and database management as required by the Quality Management System (QMS) of the legal entity.
  15. Ensure all responsible designs are delivered according to corporate design standards.
  16. Serve as a competent mechanical lead (technical and task lead, schedule management, issue tracking, job allocation, mentoring, etc.) for NPI and Sustaining projects, if required.
  17. Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

 

Job Qualification:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field preferred.
  2. Master’s or PhD in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering with relevant certification is an advantage.
  3. At least 5-8 years of working experience is required for this position.
  4. Proven experience in consumer product development through multiple product development cycles.
  5. Strong proficiency in DfX (Design for Excellence), DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) tools within product development cycles.
  6. Extensive experience in the design of mechanisms, injection-molded plastics, part/material/component selection, die-castings, extrusions, elastomeric parts, sheet metal parts, metal stampings, and EMI shielding.
  7. High proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Unigraphics (UG) NX, ZW3D, SolidWorks).
  8. Strong expertise in using CAE tools for design optimization, problem analysis, and documentation.
  9. Exceptional troubleshooting and decision-making skills, with the ability to think independently and innovatively.
  10. Demonstrated leadership, influencing, communication, and planning skills.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Strong sense of ownership and accountability in project execution.
  13. Good working relationships and a positive work attitude, self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  14. Ability to adapt well to a dynamic working environment, eager to learn new knowledge, and willing to accept new challenges.
